The 10 Best Julia Roberts Movies List

The infamous Julia Roberts is probably one of the greatest known actresses of our time. By "our", I mean the generation of kiddies born in the eighties. (Yes, I am an eighties baby). We were forced to watch "Steel Magnolias" by our mothers but now turn to "Pretty Woman" and pizza when we're having a bad day. Although Julia Roberts is now in her 40's with a husband and baby (yikes), we still love her movies and remember her fondly as Vivian from the "block". Not only is Julia Roberts an Academy Award winning actress, but she is also the highest paid actress in the world.

Here are (in my opinion) the 10 best Julia Roberts Movies of All Time!

Short Plot: Sisters Daisy (Julia Roberts), Kat and Jojo work at a pizza place in Mystic, Conneticut. Kat goes off to Yale, while her sister dates a guy from the "money-ed side" of the city. Jojo leaves a guy at the alter because of her commitment-phobia issues. But, the pizza fame continues to grow, perhaps it contains something.. mystic? This isn't Julia's best work, but it does bring her into the spotlight. And, we forgive her for the hair.

Short Plot: Ike Graham (Richard Gere), is a New York columnist and finds a story about a woman named Maggie Carpenter, a so called "runaway bride", as she leaves grooms at the alter at the last minute. Ike writes the offensive column with no research and gets fired by his boss. To try and remedy the situation, Ike goes to find Maggie and report upon her upcoming fourth wedding. It's the cheesy romance we love Julia for; it's a must-watch. Hula skirts, alter jokes and egg tastings -- what's not to love?

Short Plot: A terminally-ill mother, (Sarandon) is shocked by the new woman in her ex-husband's life, (Roberts) who will be her children's new stepmom. It's an extremely sad and heartwarming movie for Julia. (No romantic comedy jokes here!) There will be cute moments, step-mom fights and tears. Grab the kleenex and the fam.

Short Plot: I want to tell this without giving anything away! Two Supreme Court Justices are assassinated. Only one law student (Julia Roberts) has stumbled upon the truth. A striking investigative reporter (Denzel) knows this and wants her story; and others want her dead.

Short Plot: This comedy-drama is a bonding film for some strong women living in a parish. The film is about strong women who seem like delicate ladies. The plot surrounds a wedding and is a quaint but modern-day Great Gatsby scene.

Short Plot: This is a political drama surrounding a Texas congressman, (Hanks) and his secret dealings in Afghanistan. His covert efforts to assist Afghan rebels in the war against the Soviets have bad, unforeseen and long-reaching effects. Bottom line: Julia Roberts with a Southern accent? Yes, please.

She does everything in her power to stop the nuptials; Does she succeed and land her man or does Kimberley (Diaz) stand her ground! Catty fights and hot men? Plus sing-along-songs? How can we resist?

Short Plot: Based on a true story, Roberts plays Erin Brockovich, an un-employed, single mother with a low-class wardrobe. She becomes a legal assistant (better dressed too) and single-handedly brings down a huge company in one of the largest lawsuits in American history.

Short Plot: Edward, (Gere) is a rich businessman who lives a dull life making lots of money. He goes to LA for a business trip and ends up hiring a hooker (Roberts) for directions. He hires Roberts not as a prostitute, but as a "social escort" to high-society events. Best scene? Roberts being snubbed by snotty Rodeo Drive stores and going back with a whole lotta money and demanding attention. This movie is so iconic, it had to be my #2.

Short Plot: This is my absolutely favorite Julia Roberts movie. And Hugh Grant certainly helps. Hugh plays a local bookstore owner in Notting Hill, London and Julia Roberts is a visiting celebrity. Needless to say, they fall in love (brutally) and Grant gets hurt over and over again. Is it happily ever after? Perhaps, but this romantic comedy is *Hilarious* and brings the humor as much as the romance. This is an absolute must-see!
